The four weeks

Each week has one idea, one real thing to try, and one live session with your group.

Week 1

Unlearn the fear

Where your fear of getting it wrong comes from, and what it has quietly cost you. Nobody has to do anything brave yet.

You leave with an honest look at what you've been putting off, and why.

Week 2

The method

How to turn something scary into something small you can actually try, and how to learn from it whatever happens.

You leave with one real thing, ready to try.

Week 3

Try it live

You do it for real, then talk it through with people who are doing the same. This is the week the course earns its name.

You leave with proof that you can do the scary thing and come out fine.

Week 4

Carry it forward

Making it a habit that lasts past the course, and helping the people around you feel safer to try too.

You leave with a way to keep going, and your Certified Failure certificate.

Who runs it

Phil Smithson

The Failure School is run by Phil Smithson, a facilitator who has spent his career helping teams and organizations around the world try new things together. He makes the videos and hosts the live sessions.

And when it comes to getting things wrong in front of people, he goes first.

Questions

How much time does it take?

The lessons are self-paced, so you fit them around your week. The live session is about 75 minutes, once a week, for four weeks.

What if I miss a week?

The lessons stay open, so you can catch up on your own time, and someone from your group will fill you in on the session.

What if I don't do the homework?

Come anyway. Nobody gets checked or called out. Talking about what got in the way is often the most useful part of the week.

Do I have to share in the sessions?

Sharing is encouraged, never forced. Cameras, speaking and sharing are all up to you. Listening is a fine way to start.

Can my team do this together?

Yes. We run private cohorts for teams. See For teams.

Ready to get it wrong on purpose?

The founding cohort is free, for up to 15 people, and runs Thursdays from 12 November to 10 December. Tell us a little about yourself and what you've been putting off.
